Welcome to Resiliency Warriors
A beacon of hope and healing for children navigating the tumultuous aftermath of natural disasters. Founded by Kuulei Shafee in response to the devastating Lahaina and Kula wildfires, Resiliency Warriors stands as a testament to the power of resilience and community support.
At the heart of Resiliency Warriors lies Heal Through Play, an innovative program born from Kuulei's dedication to restoring joy and stability to young lives. Developed during her work with Native Hawaiian Philanthropy and Maui Tumblers, this groundbreaking initiative combines play, movement, and cultural activities to equip children with essential socio-emotional and behavioral tools.
In the wake of the August 8th, 2023 fires that ravaged Lahaina and Kula, Heal Through Play emerged as a beacon of light for the affected keiki. Partnering with Maui Tumblers at the Lahaina Children’s Camp, Kuulei introduced a transformative program that offered solace, support, and a path to healing. Through games, gymnastics, and nurturing guidance, children found sanctuary amidst the chaos, learning to process complex emotions and cultivate resilience in the face of adversity.
Guided by principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL), and ancient wisdom, Heal Through Play transcends traditional therapeutic approaches, embracing the healing power of play in a safe, nurturing environment. From coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to navigating anxiety and depression, children are empowered to confront their challenges with courage and resilience.
Resiliency Warriors is more than just a program—it's a lifeline for children grappling with the aftermath of natural disasters. By fostering a sense of community, connection, and belonging, we strive to ignite hope and inspire healing, one child at a time.
Join us in our mission to heal, empower, and uplift the next generation of Resiliency Warriors. Together, we can build a brighter, more resilient future for all.
